"Tremendously underrated bop style pianist who turned out this gem with guitar and bass, forsaking the use of drums. The result is a variety of tempos in a bop vein that moves, sometimes is laid back, but is always in a mellow groove. The whole cd is fine but I particuarly like the original "A Wolff In Chic Clothing" which pretty much describes Don Wolff, local renowned attorney who also does a weekly jazz show here in St. Louis. Another sleeper is the theme from the sci-fi picture "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" which I never saw but the music is really beautiful!Kevin Eubanks pays some fine guitar and in that respect Monk's "Straight No Chaser" comes to mind."Sunlight In Beijing", based on the chord changes of "Moonlight In Vermont" and played as a tribute to Stan Getz, is another favorite because of the arrangement and the intrinsic beauty of the melody. If you like bop, in a mellow setting at that, then dig Bud Powell's "Celia". Man, it's great!Bottom line is that you'll be doing yourself a favor picking up this cd if you like a jazz trio with a truly great sound!"
