That old mix of singer-songwriter, honky-tonk, and bluegrass sensibilities still yields some attractive dividends on Talk to Your Heart. This quartet includes fiddler Jeff Wisor, bassist Ernie Sykes, and the bandleader's wife, Martha Adcock, whose lovely soprano and smoky restraint recall Emmylou Harris. Eddie Adcock plays as much acoustic guitar as banjo, and he demonstrates his facility on the Martin with his spry instrumental, "The Boy from Arkansas." Eddie and Martha wrote seven of the 15 cuts, but they still have a knack for turning commercial tunes into new-grass showcases. This time they turn the trick with the Statler Brothers' "Your Heart of Mine," David Allan Coe's "He's Taking It Hard," and J.J. Cale's "Call Me the Breeze." --Geoffrey Himes
