Album DescriptionWelcome to the smooth, uplifting pop sound of Ed Thompson. With thoughtful biblical lyrics and warm vocals, we are happy to introduce a new, vibrant voice in contemporary Christian music. His music is "easy-to-listen-to" and packed full of the joy of the Lord. Although a veteran singer and performer (he has cut three solo albums and opened for such artists as Phillips, Craig & Dean and Dave Boyer), On A Mission represents his first original work. The result is a wonderful, uplifting mix of new contemporary Christian pop songs, ballads, and praise hymns. Several exciting talents collaborated in the production of On A Mission. Producing the project were veteran music makers Joe Linn (Joe Linn Trio, Integrity Music, Eden Records) and Jim Hawthorne of the award winning Spirit Wind Studios (The Supremes and Brad Gillis of Night Ranger). Applying truths of Scripture to music, Ed teamed up with long time friend and high-school football teammate, Rev. Jonathan Scott, for seven of the CD's ten songs. "On A Mission" is a perfect name and description for Ed's ministry and newest CD. "We're living in a time where interest in foreign missions is at a dangerous low," Ed says. Some researchers (i.e. George Barna) predict that this lack of interest will result in 50% of all foreign missionaries being sent home within 10 years for lack of support. Ed is On a Mission to help create a new awareness and excitement about missions. In fact, On A Mission provides a great and effective way for people to get started in a missions project called, "Mission Adventures." Coming from a very musical family, four "Thompson Family" Gospel albums were recorded before Ed graduated from high school. He subsequently entered and won the nation-wide Christian Artist Seminar talent competition in Estes Park, Colorado, which resulted in his first solo album at age 17. His first CD, "Be The One" was released in 1998 and features a great mix of ballads, praise hymns, and contemporary hits. "On A Mission" is his newest project and is made available through the independent label of LOGOI Music. Ed has performed with nationally known artists such as Phillips, Craig & Dean as well as his childhood musical hero, Dave Boyer. Singer, songwriter, Steve Camp states, "There are many talented people in gospel music today, but to find one whose private walk with Christ equals his public work in concert is extremely rare. Ed Thompson is such a man. Listen carefully to his music, you'll be entertained, edified, and encouraged." In addition to his music ministry, Ed has authored some 100 humorous articles on family life for magazines and newspapers across the country including a weekly humor column for the News Leader in Miami. Ed and his wife, Jenn, are Wheaton College graduates and the proud parents of three children, Matt (12), Abby (9), and David (6). He is a "third generation missionary barrel connoisseur" and claims that some of his best clothes are from church clothes closets. "Of course," he adds, "I would never wear them in public."
