"When originally released in 1990 through Kicking Mule Records, this wonderful album was entitled Inside Fezziwig's...the Spirit of Christmas Past. The reference to Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol" is appropriate. On the album's 17 instrumental tracks, Ed Sweeney (6- and 12-string guitar, banjo) is joined by other musicians on hammer dulcimer, concertina, fiddle, bones, spoons and handbells to create the atmosphere of a 19th Century Christmas. Close your eyes and you can conjure up the image of old Fezziwig himself dancing with his wife. So grab a bowl of ale, a slab of mince pie and let this music transport you back to a simpler time. This is one of a handful of must-own holiday CDs. ESSENTIAL"
