His best solo album

"Character Assassination is probably Ed's strongest solo work with great melodies throughout and an overall feel reminiscent of Dylan's "Blood on the Tracks". He may have put out more interesting albums (think "Electrical Storm", "Rooms of the Magnificent" & anything by his old band "The Laughing Clowns") but this one hangs together better than his other solo albums and has no real weaknesses.
A perfect first album for new Ed fans. Also try "Black Ticket Day" and "Honey's Steel Gold" for others in a similar vein"
