Ed Burleson, a young singer-songwriter from Lewisville, Texas, represents the latter tribe, which still gathers in well-hidden Texas dance halls to perform traditional two-steppin' rituals involving dim lights, thick smoke, and loud, loud music. My Perfect World, Burleson's national debut for Doug Sahm's Tornado label, features Burleson's originals next to songs by Jim Lauderdale and coproducer Clay Blaker (both frequent contributors to the George Strait catalogue). Guitarist Bill Kirchen, fiddler Alvin Crow, and pedal-steel guitarist Lloyd Maines help out with the twang factor.
