CD ReviewsEvery song is a gem Joseph Moore | Brentwood, TN United States | 08/13/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is a rare collection of songs that work both as individual tunes and as a whole album. There's not a bad song on the disc. Superb lyrics are coupled with paired-down, yet melodic compositions. It's just a shame that 90+% of listeners will never experience this man's work." Ahhh......Shades of 1994....Freshman Year.... PrinceVultan | Wheeling, WV | 02/18/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) ""Eat At Godot's" holds a special place in my heart. It reminds me of my freshman year of college. I went to a beautiful private school and Ralph Covert and The Bad Examples were the band playing the traditional weekend night concert that kicked off the school year. I went to see them and had a wonderful time. Gorgeous sunset, cool breeze, new friends, alcohol, freedom, and many hot women made for a thrilling experience. Now then, to the CD.
A friend of mine purchased this at the concert and Ralph and the guys were cool to talk to. They were very friendly and were happy to tell you about the music on their various CDs. Anyway, we listened to this throughout my freshman year and it grew on all of us. You have to order it at waterdog.com or ralphcovert.com I believe. Each song has a different meaning and there is not a weak moment here. The CD kicks off with "Out of My Element" with the great line "I undressed her like a virgin/laid her down like a seasoned whore"....! The next song, "Wild Young Things" is probably my favorite on the CD because it makes me think of the beginning of my college life, and my growing affinity for Budweiser and trashy broads who put out. It reminds me of a cool early fall night at college, where everything is still green, the nights are wonderful, the wine is excellent and the women are plentiful and available. It makes me think of missing my then girlfriend and wanting to cheat on her, too. God bless you Ralph. You made my freshman year worth living. I look back with a nostalgic air and I think of "Eat At Godot's". Buy this CD. It is excellent and though I cannot guarantee that it will have such an impact on your life, it is worth giving it a try. 5 Gigantic Stars. To Ralph and The Bad Examples....Thanks Guys!!!" |
