Album DescriptionRaven presents a splendid 24-track, 77-minute compilation CD from the master of power-pop DWIGHT TWILLEY. Culled from six energetic albums On Fire! Best of 1975-1984 will appeal to Dwight Twilley and Phil Seymour aficionados as well as fans of glorious pop rock everywhere. Along with Big Star, Badfinger and the Raspberries, Twilley is one of the originators of power-pop. His unique blend of Beatlesque pop and Southern rockabilly influences enjoyed immediate success with a run of critically acclaimed records. Firstly with the Dwight Twilley Band, Sincerely spawned the gleeful Top 20 hit single 'I'm on Fire', the Byrds-like 'Three Persons' and the rockabilly-mad 'TV'. Twilley Don't Mind presented such outstanding tracks as the celebratory 'Looking for the Magic' and 'Trying to Find My Baby'. They represent Twilley and Seymour at their melodic best. Seymour left in 1978 and Twilley continued solo. The years 1979 to 1982 saw Twilley at the peak of his creativity with the albums Twilley ('Out of My Hands', 'Darlin') and Scuba Divers ('I'm Back Again', 'I Found the Magic'). Twilley scored another Top 20 hit in 1984 with 'Girls' (from Jungle) which still stands as a new wave/power-pop classic. Twilley continues to record and this collection provides a testament to his enduring influence and status as a key figure in the evolution and diversity of rock and pop music. With superb quality audio, detailed notes and color booklet.
