"i will echo the last reviewer's sentiments about the one who only gave it a 2/5 rating... this album is brilliant, and easily their best since Sinner..
my problem with their last album "Full Circle" was that about halfway through the album, it really felt like it started to bog down - in terms of pacing.. and it also felt like i was about 1 or 2 songs too long..
no such problems on this album..
This album is tight, and has a very fast paced tempo, and it starts with a bang, with the song "Let The Sin Begin".. this album is full of great songs, and it's hard to really put my finger on one that stands out above the rest, as being the highlight of the album.. for me, the only song i seem to skip by is "Over My Head" - it just doesn't have anything that reaches out and grabs me, lyrically or musically... the rest of the songs however are simply amazing, and really a step in the right direction for Drowning Pool..
Let The Sing Begin 5*/5* -- (great starter - guitars at time sound like Rammstein - which isn't a bad thing :D)
Feel Like I Do 4*/5*
Turn So Cold 5*/5* -- (great song, future single)
Regret 5*/5* -- (love the drum/guitar intro on this song)
Over My Head 3*/5*
All About Me 5*/5* -- (classic old school drowning pool sound to this song)
More Than Worthless 5*/5*
Children Of The Gun 4*/5* -- (catchy song. chorus delivery has an Offspring feel to it)
Alcohol Blind 5*/5* -- (the dark horse favorite to be a single off this album - like 37 stitches)
Horns Up 4*/5*
King Zero 4*/5* -- (great way to end the album - has BLS vibe to it)
Dave is smiling down on the band right now"
Holy crap, I like!

"I was a little unsure of how I would like this album. Full Circle, while ok in itself, was not up to par. The problem was their first set a standard that was very difficult to match (you ask any metal head what he likes about Drowning Pool and I dare you to find another song other than Bodies that is mentioned first), the second slipped a bit but was still good (Step Up a great song), and the third had a few gems.
I heard their first single of this, "Feel Like I Do" and enjoyed it a lot. But, the more I would hear it, it started loosing its luster. Maybe its new, maybe it doesnt have the staying power like "Bodies" or "Tear Away", but I was a little unsure. Then I heard the rest of the album today. Holy smack, I like. The vocals are a little challenging, as its hard to pick up on the styling, but are still clear. The music isnt as mutes as Full Circle sounded.
Others will give you a play by play of the songs, me, I will stick with a good thumbs up. Lots of hard driving tracks, 3 slower ones, but still sound good. A good choice and a good outing. Still love seeing these guys live!!"
NOT QUITE AS GOOD AS FULL CIRLCE, BUT STILL AWESOME!!!

"Not sure what the 2 star reviewer is on about. Confused? Cheesy? Not sure where the confusion is coming from or what is so cheesy about some of the songs on this album. I really think this is a great album. There is, as with pretty much all music albums, songs you're not going to like and the same goes here. I didn't expect this album to match the greatness of Drowning Pool's last album, Full Circle and it didn't. But it almost did. There were only two songs on Full Circle I didn't like. Four on this one... that's not many out of eleven.
With there self titled effort, I have found, after two full listenings, that there seems to not be as many possible radio releases as there last, though I'm sure they'll probably have several off of it. Then again, maybe it's just my imagination b/c almost all the songs are awesome. Overall, the album mostly equals the last in quality(Full Circle edges it out by about half a star). There is faster, harder stuff and softer, slower stuff. Alcohol Blind is one of my favorites on the slower side of things. It has kind of an acoustic feel to it. On the heavier side I would say Turns So Cold and More Than Worthless are equal favorites of mine. Both are awesome! I really really like Over My Head and Let The Sin Begin, too.
Songs I didn't care for: King Zero, Children Of The Gun, All About Me, and, yes, Feel Like I Do. From the first time I heard Feel Like I Do I just didn't care for it. It didn't really "catch" me so to speak. The same can be said for the other 3 mentioned in this paragraph. If a song isn't catchy I can't get into it. Of course, this is a matter of opinion and some may really like these songs. Also, check out Horns Up. It's a nice hard rockin' tune.
I can't finish review without mentioning Ryan McCombs. What an awesome vocalist! I have loved his voice since I first heard Soil way back when. He has such a unique and powerful voice and I'm glad he found a home with Drowning Pool. I never cared for Drowning Pool before Ryan came along. I guess that tells you what a presence he is in a rock band.
So, should you buy Drowning Pool's self titled album? That a YES spoken emphatically! There is something on here for everybody and I think most everyone will like this cd even if they favor heavier stuff or slower stuff(or both) because it has a mix of both. Great lyrics, great vocals from Ryan, really good production values, killer guitar play, and a nice mix of tracks make this cd one those you'll want to listen to repeatedly and will keep you rockin' all the while(at least til you burn yourself out... I did that with Full Circle). Eleven tracks and only 4 I didn't like... Yeah, that's an awesome cd. I wish amazon had half stars for ratings, as do most people. If so I would give this cd 4.5 stars or a 9 out of 10. Since amazon doesn't have halves I went and rounded up to 5.
Let's face it. There's not exactly a lot of awesome rock cd's coming out right now(well, besides possibly BFMV, Godsmack, and Deftones). Drowning Pool will fill the void quite nicely. It's worth your time and money folks! Go get a copy!"
