Synopsis

Product Description
DREMORA is female-fronted symphonic metal from Los Angeles that mashes heavy metal with classical symphonic orchestration. It is then polished with powerful female soprano vocals, and snarling male gutturals.

This exceptional combination of American and European style makes it original. Dremora has been described by its fans as similar to Nightwish, Epica, After Forever, Therion, Tristania, Evanescence, Dream Theater, and Megadeth.

Dremora was formed April 2006 in Los Angeles, CA by songwriter 'Thomas K' who handles most of the music, and male vocals. Female vocals are performed by the Brazilian soprano Juliana Novo; she injects a unique, dark tone with her vocals, which can be best described as a mixture of classical and rock. The shredding lead guitar work is performed by a man only known as 'Andrew'.

'Martyrs' is their only release. It is a 4-song EP, released internationally on August 3rd, 2007, with a total running time of 22:48. Each song has it's own individual vibe:

Track 1 "Alone" is an emotional ensemble with an unforgettable chorus and a solid gothic-rock feel about it.
Track 2 "Martys and Madmen" has old school thrashy downtuned guitars and operatic vocals so powerful during the chorus that it gives goosebumps; it's themed after the fight against terrorism and delivers a powerful message.
Track 3 "Fair Haven" invokes a journey towards a wonderful sanctuary we would all like to find, with its extensive use of celtic panpipe flutes and heavy strings that build the aura of peace and tranquility--until the heavy thrash riffing and grunting vocal descends upon the unsuspecting voyager and shreds the fragile illusion.
Track 4 "Transcending God" is an emotive instrumental characterized by several ups and downs in the song that carries the listener away on a symphony of violins and thick horns, with intertwined sections of haunting and captivating vocal melodies as well as a heavy aura of clean and distorted guitars.

The Martyrs EP is a limited production Digipak format CD, containing dark-themed art and lyrics.

"Funny how you have to work to find the best music. I found Dremora while web surfing for bands in the same genre as Nightwish (and others). Often when you find a band you like, you end up having to order their music from Europe. Dremora is one of the very few American bands in the Gothic, symphonic, operatic genre. Their first EP is a fine example of this type of music. It's a bit like a combination of Nightwish and Epica, two of my favorite new bands although certainly not a clone of either. The first three songs have the characteristic Gothic metal sound with heavy guitar and fine soprano vocals from Juliano Novo. The last tune on the disc is a Gothic instrumental that is more typical of some of the German bands like Elis or Lyriel. All great stuff. So, if you like Nightwish, Epica, After Forever, Edenbridge, or Within Temptation, try out this new band. I think you'll like it and, like me, want more."

"Not in the league of peers, but pleasant and promising. Very capable voice. Weak point - composing. But worth buying if you like female fronted metal."
