CD Reviews

Dragonforce puts the "M" back in Metal
William B. Coyle | San Diego, CA USA | 09/10/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Although not as good as their first album (Valley of the Damned), Dragonforce continues to impress me with their blazing fast riffs, complex chord progressions, and well orchestrated out of this world solos. Make no mistake, this is not the whiny touchy feely so called "Emo-Metal" that has been dominating the scene as of late. Nor is it the generic and lifeless KORN and Nickelback type crap that real metal fans have had to endure for so long. These guys are the inheritors of Dio and Iron Maiden, and I can only hope that they bring back a trend in Metal that once held an entire generation of headbangers enthralled."
Best DragonForce Album
Christian Nishimura | Winter Park, CO | 05/06/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is the enhanced version of their latest album, there is a bonus track (not found on the original Inhuman Rampage CD) and also comes with a DVD. I personally think this is the best of the 3 albums they had, also It's the fastest and hardest.

I will dare to say it's the best power metal album of all times !"
More Of A 4.5, but I'll round Up
Iron M. Rob | Where in the world are YOU? | 12/20/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Alright, I bought the special edtion of inhuman rampage a few weeks ago, and frankly, I love it. Now it's not my favorite album, but it does contain some songs I adore. Dragonforce is one of those few bands out there in a moment caught in a hype. Well, I say, BELIEVE THE HYPE! These guys may play fast and try to show how skilled they are in songs, but no doubt they know how to also include some catchy melodies in their songs. It is one of the few artists of today that I praise! So here's my review.

Track 1.) Through The Fire And Flames

- BEST SONG ON HERE! Seriously, the only reason I decided to give these guys ago was because I watched a video on youtube of a preview for guitar hero 3. Sure it has you playing some key board parts, but it blows you away seeing someone actually doing the song.

Enough with gh3 now, this song starts off as a great album opener, then thrusts you into a whirlwind of fire and brimstone! One moment your going "hey, this sounds pretty cool!" the next your like "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

I mean that in a good way lol. Seriously, this song is an epic by all standards and makes you want to pick up a guitar even though you have no idea what the heck you're doing and hitting random notes. By the end of this song, if this is your first listening to Dragonforce...you're going to be quite dazed or high on tunefullness and epicness, which is good = )

Track 2.) Revolution Deathsquad

-If "Through The Fire And Flames" isn't the best song on here, then this is! It kicks the song off with an opener that makes you want to pick up a guitar and play it with one hand while waving to a crowd of onlookers in awe, even if they are your neighbors lawn gnomes and you're hitting only the first note repeativly (hey, it's the imagination that counts).

This song is epic as "Through The Fire And Flames" and contains some intresting solo parts. You'll even find yourself banging your head or singing to those catchy lyrics, even after your done listening!

Now that we've journeyed to another epic-epic, lets head onto the next one =) (as Hiro would say : "Yatee!" or "yataa..." I forget...)

Track 3.) Storming The Burning Fields

-Hurry! Log onto World Of Warcraft! C'mon! Get your elf/dwarf/ whatever the hell you are to the nearest player battle zone of horde vrs alliance and storm it! I don't care if you're afraid you will get owned, just DO IT!

It's quite nice how this song, as well as basically all tracks on here, goes well with games like that. It just sets the mood doesn't it? "Storming the burning fields" takes you on a wild ride with missing tracks and some lose bridges, but this roller coaster doesn't pump the adrenaline as the previous tracks, but still is a good song to listen to while owning everyone~!

And in those cases where you are the noob, you can always try, and even if you do die, just go around as a ghost and follow the strongest goon there and pretend to be them!

Track 4.) Operation Ground Pound

- Finally, another track similar to the epic-epicness as the two starters! Another good listen. Now the music video for this song may be weird, but you may find yourself going "what the hell, this fun! Lets go smash grandma's vase collection!" Takes you on a wild ride through vast mountains and burning crusades of dragonfire and whatnot!

Track 5.) Body Breakdown

- Yet another awesome song! Still, doesn't feel as epic as the starters or the previous one, yet provides the background music while you crack some skulls in runescape, dungeons and dragons online, or whatever MMORPG you play!

Track 6.) Cry For Eternity

- Dragonforce songs have weird names, don't they? Hmm, this ones similar to my "Body Breakdown" one before, so I really can't say much more. It's a good song, but, it gets a bit "generic" after a while =(

Track 7.) The Flame Of Youth

- Once again, another good song, but doesn't really provide the epic-epicness as "Revolution Deathsquad" or "Operation Ground And Pound". Really, I would love to praise this song more, but frankly, I'm running out of different stuff to describe it.

Track 8.) Trail Of Broken Hearts

- OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT DEFIES ALL LAWS OF PHYSIC AND REALITY ITSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!! DRAGONFORCE MADE A SLOW SONG!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Yep, that just about descirbes it lol. While it may be a slow tempo song, it still includes some parts that are quite technical and require skill. Yet another intresting and decent song.

Track 9.) Lost Souls In Endless Time

- What the heck? I paid an extra 2$ for this!!!!???? Oh my gawd! I was expecting another "Through the fire and flames" EPIC-EPIC!

Alright, it's not bad, but I wouldn't call it Dragonforce's best song...it's ok...little techno though lol.

Overall- Ok, this album is great, and has some REALLY awesome standouts. Whether you're playing WoW or need something to escape the doldrums of work, this is a good album to listen. You may have found me getting less enthusiastic(can't spell) through out the review, but don't get me wrong, these are all good songs, even if it gets a little generic after a while. Also, the special edition contains some extra videos that are pretty entertaining to watch. By all means, pick up this album, whether you are a Dragonforce fan, fan of the now extreme powermetal (to the MAX!!!) or still consider Iron Maidens "The Number Of The Beast" song to be one of your top favorites. Really, if this is your first time listening to a band like Dragonforce, you're going to love it. In fact, you may never veiw music the same. I know I have, some songs just seem empty now after I gave this dragon-ride a go!
