Hailing from sunny Southern California, Down For The Count is a shining star in the pop/rock universe. These boys have endured a van inferno, deportation from a foreign country, and several member changes, yet Down For The Count presses on. In 2005, they self-released an EP entitled "History in the Making." This release sparked the interest of Japanese indie label Kick-Rock Music (Valencia, Four Year Strong, Every Avenue) and UK indie Pep-Rock Records (Atwood, Portman). In 2007, those two labels released Down For The Count's debut full-length, "Broken Record Tactics" in their respective territories, spreading the buzz about the band worldwide. Here in the US, Down For The Count followed their DIY ethic and self-released "Broken Record Tactics" followed by two full US tours, including dates on the Vans Warped Tour, and an additional southwestern run. Their debut release on Negative Progression Records is a 6-song EP entitled "Battle Royale." Recorded in Baltimore, MD with Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, Valencia, The Dangerous Summer), this record is a shimmery work of art that clearly shows the band's true colors and talent. Taking their pop sensibilities and melding them with complex melodies and driving rhythms, Down For The Count has taken their song writing to the next level. They have created hooks that will require major surgery to remove and the dynamic vocals of Nathan Sirotta at times drip with sugary-sweetness while at others, create a palpably smokey haze.
