CD ReviewsThe Dove Shack- Reality's Got Me Tied Up Constant | Vancouver, BC Canada | 03/21/2007 (3 out of 5 stars) "The Dove Shacks' sophomore album was "Reality's Got Me Tied Up" (2000), a sixteen track release from the low profile trio of 2Scoops, C Knight, and Bo-Roc. Proteges of Warren G, this group bring's a similar G-Funk sound to their music, representing their hood Long Beach, California. They are best known for their hit single "Summertime In The LBC" which was featured on their debut album "This Is the Shack" (1995). Guest appearances come from Kam, Bad Azz, Baby Boy Lil J, Nate Dogg, Madom Dree, & Goldie Loc. My favourite track on this release is "What You See" which is the Dove Shack's own rendition of Nice & Smooth "Sometimes I Rhyme Slow", the trio deliver some heartfelt cuts rhyming and rhyming over some classic production. Usually I am not a fan of remakes but this one is an exception for me. The album's opener with Kam is the thugged out "Going Down". Backed by some smooth female vocals and laidback production deliver a decent nineties sounding cut with "We Funk G Funk". The Dove Shack reflect while cruising through the streets on "Low Low ". Midway the group take a break to remember all their deceased family and friends on the "R.I.P." (Skit). Backed by some ominous production DS delivers a grimy cut with a cut about banging on "When We Ride". Nate Dogg delivers some soulful vocals, while The Dove Shack rep their hood on "Sorry We Keep Ya". The Dove Shack provided a solid album with "Reality's Got Me Tied Up", definitely an album worth checking out for those who enjoy that laid back G-Funk sound which is rarely found in Hip Hop these days."
