CD ReviewsOutstanding Bill Porter | Lexington, KY | 02/11/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "Doug Carman's "Field Recording" is a good example of what has been gained by the the advances in home recording. Professional intent is matched by precision of execution, and a singular vision is intensified by the fact that Doug plays and sings all the tracks, quite well, by the way. The album opens with "Time On The Line," almost a personal anthem, if that is not a contradiction, a song which moves to the edge of rock and roll, very good. The next two are my favorites of the moment: "Thursday's Child" and "The One True Love (That Got Away)," the latter especially, a ballad with that timeless quality of a statement, the truth of which is evident in an artful simplicity. All and all, this record is rich and diverse enough to keep one's ears interested, a fine effort. Keep'em coming." Listen to it! Jan Lebovitz | Nashville, TN | 01/19/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "FIELD RECORDING is a great mixture of acoustic and folk music that has a lot of emotion and feeling. I love how Doug Carman plays all of the music instruments on this CD, and I especially love Doug's lyrics. This is a great CD; I recommend it to everyone!" It's about time Bill Lloyd | Nasvhille, Tennesssee | 01/13/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "I personally know this fellow and have been waiting for a solo release of his songs and performances for 20 years or so. Recorded at home (indoors, I think..), Doug Carman has finally doccumented a slew of his own compositions.. playing and singing the lot of them. Expect sure fire melodic catchiness, a willingness to tackle anything lyrically and a vocal delivery that's smooth and sincere. He refers to it as folk music, but besides the prominence of acoustic guitars, the musical touchstones that I hear cover alot of ground from The Beatles to Southern California singer-songwriter pop. He's a musical veteran without a backlog of albums to show for it but I'm very glad this one is out there for the peoples to hear!"
