"OK I bought this CD when I was learning the Koussevitzky, and boy was I disappointed! The bass playing is mediocre at best (and that's being generous), but what really sinks the album is the accompaniment!Trust me, you don't want this CD. Just because it involves double bass doesn't mean we need to have low standards!:P- Corey"

"Signor Sciascia's playing epitomizes true Italian lyrical playing. To see him live is to understand what Bottesini had in mind when he composed his works. On CD the tempos may lean on the slow side, but these are refreshing takes on standard works. The Dragonetti on this CD is a "real" Dragonetti concerto (published as Concerto #5) and is performed here as though it were just a simple exercise (it is a pretty hard piece in actuality). This CD is not for those looking for "traditional" versions of the pieces played the way that everybody else does. The listener is in for a surprise with this CD."
