Gaetano Donizettis La Figlia del Reggimento (or, more appropriately, La fille du regiment, in French, the work being extremely popular in 19th c. France despite a poor premiere) is now firmly lodged in the standard repertoire of many of the worlds great houses, giving as it does the works tenor protagonist the opportunity for audience acclaim or derision with it famous, early high-C filled aria, besides many other beautiful moments in this light-hearted affair. The star of note on this 1960 Milan live recording is Anna Moffo, but not to be overlooked is the fine if now obscure tenor Giuseppe Campora.
