Sony Classical offers opera lovers another ten complete recordings from the RCA Victor, CBS/Sony and Eurodisc catalogues, with highlights from La Juive and the complete Thaïs with Anna Moffo as well as Schoenberg's Moses und Aron by Hans Rosbaud for the first time on CD, remastered from the analogue masters using 24 bit / 192 kHz technology.

This latest release is one of the widest ranging yet in this series, spanning the history of theatrical music from Monteverdi to Schoenberg.

Three important bel canto performances are included in this reissue, two of them offering rarely performed operas, both recorded in 1983. From Donizetti, the 1983 recording of his Il campanello di notte: "This sparkling one-act piece", declared the Penguin Guide, "is based on something like the same story which Donizetti developed later in Don Pasquale. Enzo Dara and Angelo Romero are delightful in their patter duet, and Agnes Baltsa is a formidable but sparkling Serafini. Gary Bertini is a sympathetic conductor who paces things well."
