Unique, original and very disturbing

"This CD really deserves a proper review. I was lucky enough to somehow stumble across this band and purchase this album before it became the rare item it is today.
So where to begin? Well, for those unfamiliar with Dolorian it is important to note that each of their releases has a distinct sound to it. On this album, Dolorian's debut, the band plays a really unique blend of black and doom metal. The mixture of black and doom has resulted in comparisons with old to mid period Katatonia, but the two bands really don't sound alike. Dolorian's sound is far more minimalistic than Katatonia and extremely depressing. In fact, this may very well be the coldest, bleakest album I have ever heard. That's why I can't just recommend it to anyone. If you like really miserable music then give this a go - you will find it to be a very rewarding listen. On the other hand, if power metal is your favourite type of music you steer clear of this.
The people most likely to enjoy this album are those already into Funeral Doom, and other more extreme varieties of the doom genre. I would also strongly recommend this CD to fans of Forgotten Tomb, Xasthur and Deathspell Omega's "Kenose" EP."
