CD Reviews

Great update on classic tracks
Concerned One | Clarinda, IA | 05/07/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"For a band that has been around as long as it has, it is great to see Dokken continue to put out great music. This album of "greatest hits" re-recorded is exactly what I think they needed in their career. Through many line up changes, and great albums, it's tough to know if they are still up to par with what the classic line up of Mick Brown, Don Dokken, Jeff Pilson, and George Lynch, which many old time fans hold up as the golden years of the band. This album puts to sleep the rest that these guys are fading out by any means. John Levin (guitars) and Sean Mcnabb (Bass) keep pace with any of the previous members, and are crisp and skilled in their interpretations of the classic songs on here. The new songs It's Almost Over and Magic Man are a great addition to this album and a preview of what can be created by this line up, and the cover songs are fun to hear (Bus Stop and Lies are tracks 13 and 14 on the Japanese Version I have). The songs' paces are a bit slower, and Don can't quite hit the peaks he used to, but it does not waiver or crack as many folks might after 30+ years of the rock and roll life, except on Tooth and Nail, he streaches a bit far. Mick is still pounding the drums earning his "Wild" tag name, doing a fine job. This album is a great for new folks to pick up and hear the old classics, along with what to expect if they are going to a live show with the new line up. A must have for old fans like myself."
Dokken Still Rocks

"I've been a Dokken fan for nearly thirty years and must say these new versions of the classics are excellent. Dons voice can't hit as high as it use to but who can in ther 50's, that being sad he still has a great voice and a great band also. Jon Levin plays great while staying true to the original versions. I love George Lynch's guitar work but must give alot of credit to Jon Levin. He's playing is awesome and is not in Georges shadows at all. If you're a true Dokken fan this is a must have. Kudos to the whole band you sound great. Peace to Wild Mick Brown who's Drums are always great and a big part of the Dokken sound."
Good Stuff...

"It's a little difficult to hear a song you've played thousands of times changed...BUT IT STILL ROCKS! The 2 new songs are as good as anything on radio right now. A must have for any TRUE Dokken fan."
