"Djessou Mory Kante's guitar is but one of the voices on this wonderful recording. Kante and his co-musicians on this album intertwine their rhythmic yet fluid guitar lines into an intricate, mesmerizing whole that is lively yet soothing, giving the listener eminently listenable interpretations of some traditional Guinean songs. The individual guitars blend so well into an incredibly thick, lush sound that you almost think you could drink it. The Guinean-style guitar playing found in this recording, while distincly West African, sounds vaguely Spanish to the Western ear, but is a taste of home if you are from Guinea. In fact, it reminded my girlfriend of her home so much that she cried the first time we listened to it. This disc only gets better with repeated listening."
