"Djavan is a poet and songwriter. His style is a very singular one. Each album has a different approach, and even so, or becuse of it, he is in continuous evolution. This album is one of his best. The listener will note a delicate mix between african, northern brazilian regional and jazzistic approach, which gives to his music a sweet cosmopolitan appeal."

"Djavan is one of my favorites, and this is one of his best. From "Pedro Brasil" (about the discoverer of Brasil, Pedro Cabral) to the haunting "Faltando um Pedaço" to "Nvula Leza Kia/Humbiumbi", his African-style duet with Gilberto Gil, this album is a classic, and to me the best period of Djavan's music."
