"Music from the Classical period can be difficult to be positive about when its compared to the works of Mozart, but Dittersdorf's manages to be far from boring and in fact not that far removed from the music of Mozart. All the music on this CD has a gentle and flowing nature about it, while still managing to dip into the lower/softer extremes of its subject as well as the more intense aspects. Sometimes however, the music does seem a little repetitive, and perhaps a little too refined considering the themes that it's suppose to be portraying. On the other hand, as Classical music, it is very much of its period, and if you've always enjoyed Mozart's "lighter" works, such as the divertimentos and seranades, then quite possibly you will find just as much to like in the music of Dittersdorf."
