What The Hell
Nuisance | Miami | 12/03/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"There's always a member of a group that's a weak link and on some instances there is always one member of a group who is the only one worth listening to. Enter Hell Rell. I approached this album with an open mind and was shocked at how good it was. The intro is cold because it's him just spittin. He still does a good job on tracks like Do It For The Hustlers, You Can Count On Me(where he talks about his life), Paperboy(which uses a line from Cam'ron's Where Im From off of the SDE album) etc. On Deep In Love, Hell Rell talks about all the things he's Deep In Love with. Styles P shows up on The Hardest Out and Young Dro shows up on You Know What It Is. Contrary to popular belief, this album is far from flawless! Show Off is weak, Im The S*** feat Cam'ron is just s**** plus Cam'ron made that track worser than it had to be. Respect Me feat JR Writer is ehhh. There also songs that are just average like Life In The Ghetto, Streets Gonna Love Me etc. Even though Hell Rell can spit, his punchlines can be very predictable at times("Im smoking on something the color of grape jelly"--Come on now, I saw that coming a mile away). On a positive note, I do like the three bonus tracks(187, Bars From Hell and Ruga Rell)on the Best Buy version of the album. Bottom line: While Hell Rell's album is far from perfect, its still the best Dipset release this year. In a year full of dissapointing albums and straight garbage albums from rappers who should know better, I must admit that I do enjoy this release. Standout Tracks: INTRO, DO IT FOR THE HUSTLERS, PAPERBOY, DEEP IN LOVE, HARDEST OUT, I SHALL PROCEED(REP THE SET), i AINT PLAYIN WIT EM, 187 and BARS FROM HELL."

"This is one of the best Diplomat albums....this dude is as Raw and Gangsta as it gets. Just look at the cover. Raw lyrics being backed up by some Diplomat beats (usually really dope) make this Cd 5 stars for me. The features aren't many. From Dip-Set - Cam'ron, Juelz Santana, and JR Writer, but it also features Styles P and Young Dro. If your looking for R&B jams....this is the wrong album for you. This Album is STRICTLY for the streets. Hell Rell and JR are the best is Dip-Set, but also the less popular because they have yet to sell out...cough...Juelz Santana, Cam'Ron, Jim Jones...cough.

Top 5

1. I Ain't Playin Wit 'Em (this song is so sick, and the beat is of the chain)

2. Hardest Out (Feat. Styles P)

3. I'm The S*** (Feat. Cam'ron)

4. Streets Gonna Love Me

5. Respect Me (Feat. J.R. Writer)

"This Cd right here has got to be one of the best Rap cd's ever. It may be hard for you to believe but it's true Hell Rell is not only a good rapper he's got the beats and the street cred to back his debut albulm. This is probably one of the most slept on underated cd's of all time and it's a damn shame. He is the man and this Cd is classic 5 stars!!! GET IT!!!"
