"First of all, jesper(who plays guitar on this great album) is STILL in IN FLAMES. Just wanted to clear that up. I have also noticed on the 'net that people have said Dimension Zero are what In Flames used to be. That doesn't make any sense. DE and IF sound NOTHING alike. Not even IF's old stuff sounds like this. Come on, people. Use your ears. Another things is that people hate the new in flames cd because of lack of solos but love DZ. Um, i hate to be the one to tell you this but DZ have little or no guitar solos, folks. Hypocrites. Sheesh. anyway, DE is your typical melodic metal band. Which is a good thing since this genre is reeking of quality. This band is more brutal than your average melodic band though. They are really thrashy and the dude's death metal voice is really spasmatic and crazy. awesome stuff. There are plenty of good fast, thick riffs and pounding drums to go around. The songs are short, to the point and just pummel you until your neck hurts from head banging. Instead of solos's some of the songs have a little melodic interlude which is very cool sounding. The lyrics are more dark than most other bands such as dark tranquility and in flames. Jesper proves once again that he is one of the greatest guitar players of this genre of metal. He also plays bass on this cd which might explain why the bass isn't very special. It seems he just played it just to have some bass. No biggie though. On a more interesting note, Anders Friden(in flames singer..duh) produced this album. He did a good job because it sounds frickin great, folks. Excellent cd."
Chock full of Death Metal goodness....

"I don't know know why I waited so long to review this CD, considering I got it the day it was released. Getting down to business, over the past several months I have noticed one recurring theme when anyone mentions this band. Everyone who writes about it has a tendency to draw comparisions to In Flames. Granted, this band does have one current and one former member of In Flames in its line-up, but I really feel one should let the album stand on its own merit. For the record, I am not even a fan of In Flames. My main reasons for buying this were (1) I heard "Through the Virgin Sky" and I liked it and (2) Hans Nilsson is on drums. Having said that, I have probably played this CD in my car so many times that all my friends and my boyfriend are ready to strangle me if they have to listen to it one more time. For me, this is probably the best Death Metal album to come along in quite awhile. Unlike most of the bands arriving on the scene today, this music sounds totally fresh. There is just enough melody to make the songs instantly catchy, but it doesn't make them any less hard-hitting. Jocke (vocals) makes full use of a wide array of vocal styles. You have the typical Swedish Death "rasps", blackened screams, gutteral growling, and some clean vocals too. My only real complaint is that the album has only 9 tracks. I want more!!!"
