Synopsis
Product Description "Once again, back is the incredible!" The Bay Area superstars are back with a brand new studio album, and this one is must-add for any D.U. fan. Shock-G, Money B, and crew bring another heater for the eardrums. "..Cuz A d.u. Party Don't Stop!" comes with bangin' new tracks like Blue Skyy featuring Young Fifth, and Lettuce In The Club with D.U. newcomer BINC. Other noteable tracks include Who's Bumpin featuring Liz Suwandi and Meeheadsoon with Element and Esinchill. This album wraps up Digital Underground's studio career... as the group has officially announced a disband after this album is settled. As the last album of their 20+ year career, its not only a collectible for the new music, it also features live tracks of fan favorites from the road, including an "unplugged" version of Sex Packets that any fan would want in their iPod. The album features longtime Digital Underground members Shock-G, Money B, Humpty Hump and Esinchill but is also meant to introduce newer crew members who have been in the group since the last album. Newcomers Element, Young Fifth, Liz Suwandi, and Choice Cuts are all featured. Also highlighted is DJ NuStylez, the crew's new DJ. NuStylez shows off his skills on the break track "Four One Four" which samples Shock-G. Also, this album marks the first and perhaps only appearance of Shock-G's southern-based cousin Buttafly. |
CD ReviewsMight be their BEST CD yet!!! M. Martin | CO. | 06/07/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "This was a little hard to find but I got it. [...] ..CUZ A d.u. PARTY DON'T STOP! This is one of their best Cd's ever! You can smell the Pfunk all over. Cali Boogie is a tight track and Eat Boiled Peanuts F-ing funny with some hard hitting Bass. I could go on and on about this CD. If you are a D.U. fan you need to pick this one up. Best Buy does not have this CD for some crazy reason. Makes me wonder what else they don't have that is worth buying." Not A Typical D.U. Release, Which Is Why I Love It Mark Black | Phoenix, AZ | 09/07/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "Every Digital Underground album has been kind of an experience for me, with this one being no different. It's not "typical" but if you stack any two discs from their catalog side-by-side its almost impossible to make direct comparisons. You thought Sex Packets was too freaky or sexual... then don't even mess with Bodyhat Syndrome. You thought Sons of the P was too deep or not hard-hitting enough, then you'll love Future Rhythm. If you thought Who Got The Gravy was their best album ever, then I doubt you love the EP Release, and so on. "Cuz A d.u. Party Don't Stop!" is a fun listen because there are many exposed sides of this group. Their More Manure song is some typical loopy Shock G silly stuff, while the hard hitting Who's Bumpin cut is their first-ever super fast "dance" track. Meeheadsoon is another kick-in-the pants while All About You and Everything Ya Done For Me are more on the serious tip. Blue Skyy shows off that typical Shock G flair for production, with tight Cali-driven lyrics and the guitarist used on many Tupac tracks. The live cuts on this album are almost a bonus experience never-before had. So no... this isn't a typical Digital Underground release. But I think after all these years, they've showed us that there's NO SUCH THING! Get it... or get gone!" I am a huge Fan...but this is crap. San Diego Fan | San Diego, CA | 06/16/2008 (2 out of 5 stars) "Trust me...I have every album they ever made, but this album is just not very good. There are only 2 songs on here worth anything and you can download those for 89 cents each and save yourself the other 7 bucks. All you need is Track #2 - Who's Bumpin'? and Track #8 - Meeheadsoon. The rest is garbage mixed with a pretty lame live show that D.U. did some time in the past? I can't believe Shock records himself doing a live show and instead of putting his all into it...he sounds as if he rather be somewhere else...which is sad because the audience sounded like they were waiting for Shock to bring it and he never did. Then to have the nerve to put that lame live show on this album...really WTF???? The above mentioned tracks represent how talented Shock once was.
Trust...Track #2 & #8 are all you need here. " |
