"This CD is a powerful exercise in which the basis for it's sounds are the break-down of both analogue and digital sources, so that it sounds neither analogue nor digital. The first piece, alchemagenta, pulsates hypnotically, and somehow uses certain secondary harmonics to avoid sounding anywhere near techno, definately vintage ZF. Haze polder produces an image from what it sounds, the sun obscured by the fog haze and steam. Soft helion is freightening, the slightly shifted echo does it, it is a menacing sun. Another soft helion is my favorite piece, the echos and harmonics come together perfectly. The stereo effect almost makes one dizzy. Angel's pin number is odd, it also is freightening-- kind of echoes the view of the Tanakh of angels being freightining beings. Carbon is made probably from shorting out audio plugs, and produces these bird like sounds, as if they are fossilized, it is unusually catchy. Amber sounds kind of militaristic/patriotic. The last piece, Init, is very hypnotic. it pounds as an odd meter, almost a strange-attractor "pattern," then it's ambience obsures it, and then does variations of the two. When I had it at very low volume, my mother-in-law at first thought it was Hawiian drumming, but it really is very different than anything indigenous/ethnic. The ending is quite humorous. One of the easier ZF CD's to obtain. I'm not certain, but this may have been composed without Robin Story (Rapoon), after he left the group. The compositional integrity is still obviously here."
