More than just your average "Best Of"...

"I'm usually not a fan of "best of" albums, but this one is a must have, especially if you are a big Die Warzau fan. Although there are a bunch of familiar songs on here (Funkopolis, All Good Girls, Land of the Free), they were given the modern royal treatment. None of the older songs on here sound like they aged a day. Everything is remastered and remixed. You wont even recognize Kleen anymore when you here it. Its no longer a ballad on here! The six newer tracks that are on here were supposed to be on Die Warzau's upcoming album, SuperGangBang. Since they appear here on a compilation and no news of the album has been heard in 2 years, its safe to say that maybe the band has started work on another album. Jim Marcus has a solo record that has also been in the works for several years called Wonderland. That album is taking a more mellow/ambient approach and sounds fantastic. To make a long story short, Die Warzau are still alive and kicking. This compilation is proof of that. They are just taking their sweet time like they normally do. Remember the wait between Engine and Convenience? Hell, all I can remember at this point is how much the wait was worth it, because with Convenience Die Warzau came back strong. Tracks like Insect, Born Again and Hitler's Brain show why Die Warzau are still one of the best mainstays of electronic industrial. Always exciting, never repetative. If you like your electronic with a heavy dose of funk, throbbing bass grooves, and smooth vocals then Die Warzau are still for you.
Get this record."
Born Again...!

"Die Warzau live was the first show I had ever seen. It was a 1988, high energy industrial stompdown! They opened for the then new outfit Nine Inch Nails and stole the show. Jim Marcus and crew left an imprint in my brain! Vinyl 88 is Die Warzau 2008. Included are several singles updated with improved production, non-album tracks, and six brand new songs, the best being "insect" and "born again". I was stumped that "strike to the body" and "i've got to make sense" were left off, but I am assuming that the focus was to feed the hardcore fanbase the newer music. The result is like a brand new Die Warzau record. The title is clever and evokes a sense of "best of" without the actuality of it being an average "greatest hits". Kudos Jim and Van. Die Warzau are even more relevant and important today! Would love to see them live in 2008!"
Amazing release from one of the greats

"This is one of the first "industrial" releases in years worth its weight in salt. Although most of it is old material, it's all updated very well. The sound quality is phenomenal. The little segways between tracks are great additions.
If for some reason you're on this page and haven't had any experience with Die Warzau, change it with this disc. It gives a perfect taste of how amazing they are. Although they're far from prolific, they've not put out a single sub-par release in their couple of decades making music."
