"Boy have I been waiting for the older Diabolical Masquerade albums to be re-released. After cherishing and practically worshipping "Death's Design" for 5 years, I am finally treated to the delights of their earlier work.
If you enjoy "Death's Design" you'll most likely enjoy this too - but be aware it's not quite on the epic scale of grandeur "Death's Design" is. It's definitely rawer, not as polished production-wise, and not as diverse (with all the orchestrations and all). It is more classic black metal, while "Death's Design" was more of a bizarre experimentation that ended up wonderfully successful. However, there are still many experimentations, little keyboard parts and instrumental parts reminiscent of Death's Design added to the more traditional black metal, and this is still an absolutely exceptional album.
"Haunted by Horror" is the album's genius work. You will literally be haunted by the riffs in this song; they give off a mystifying nostalgic and haunting feeling, and will linger in your head for days to come, as the album screams for you to listen to it more. "All Onboard the Perdition Hearze" has a wonderful flute and piano breakdown.
Fans of Summoning, Arcturus, Borknagar, Emperor, older Katatonia, etc. will absolutely love this."
This is HORROR Metal

"Brillant black/horror metal with progressive and thrash influences. The compositions are complex and the guitar work is intense. Most of the songs have spooky effects and keyboard parts on top of the brutal guitar work. The lyrics of the album deal with horror themes of ghosts, monsters, vampires and pyschological horror. The most admirable thing about DM is that they create a great atmosphere of spookiness and horror without resorting to typical black metal themes of satanism. This is metal for Halloween!!"
