"I hope my review can be of help to many of those out there that are continously searching for the right relaxation music. I know how hard it is to choose from a list so big and have to trust the reviews from others to make a secrure purchace. The one thing I can tell you for sure about this CD is that it's mellow, unobtrusive and extremely relaxing. It is music that you don't have to think about - it simply does its job in the background allowing for you to naturally relax. It is like one 63 minute long song that continously provides a soothing and graceful atmosphere. For those that can possibly find a problem with its simplicity, they've got to be crazy! There is a small part of the cd that contains a rainstorm which I feel is totally cleansing and purifying. It does not get louder during this part, it is extrememly geltle. The entire CD resonates with me so well that I feel transformed by the end. It is balanced eqaully. It is one experience to play it during a massage and witness such incredible healing take place and it is another experience to play it to meditate to. It serves very well in various ways. I love this cd so much that I contacted the musician himself to inquire about future volumes of Detaching the World and to compliment him. Let me tell you, if you talk to this guy you'll find yet another deep and profound respect for his music beyond what you allready found out by just listening to the music. He is so dedicated and compassionate. I can't wait for his upcoming release of Vol. 2. One last thing... as a massage therapist, the hands on work is the most important part of the session. For anyone using the music as the more important part of the work, something is wrong. Thats why this cd is great - because it serves well being mellow and unobtrusive in the background allowing for me as the therapist to do the real work. It sets the atmosphere not too much or too little. Detaching the World is PERFECT - I love it! (and so do my clients). By the way, the musician made this cd with the help of a massage therapist. They did it right!"
Just what I needed

"I ordered this cd with no knowledge of what it sounds like or what it even contained. I'll be attending school to become a Massage Therapist this Fall and I wanted to jump start my music collection. After reading the reviews, I went ahead and bought it. I am so glad that I did. The music is very smooth and it flows from one portion to the other, meandering through your mind like a feather in a breeze. The artist used a guitar for many of the sounds, but they are only soft "plucks" and reverberations. There is even rain in one track that makes it even more calming. This is a great cd for any kind of relaxation or meditation and it plays for a good hour. I will definitely order the next two very soon."
Blessed to have this cd -

"As a massage therapist new to the field, it can be overwhelming to take time out of my day and search for the "right" music that I find connects with me and my clients. Out of the hundreds of monotonous relaxation cds at my school's library, half of which I had out on loan for months, I was starting to get inundated with what music I was going to incorporate into my practice. I received this cd from my parents over the holiday season and decided to pop it into my radio at the soonest chance. The outcome you may ask? This cd is completely filled with pure atmospheric notes of essence and holds great respect toward the massage and healing arts field. I was well relaxed without feeling indolent. It's background ambient music at its best. The key way to describe it is that the music mimics the ebb and flow of a gentle ocean's tide. The instrumentation of Vol. 1 apparently was created with just guitars and after I read that passage in the liner notes, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I have never before heard this style of guitar playing while adding such a colossal angelic layer to the music.
The cd starts out with Tranquil Sunrise, a 25 minute track of vast ambient landscape guitar with the power to calm the tensest mind. This is the track that makes me think of ebb and flow with the ocean, the universe, life itself and helps me to "detach" any residual anxiety that may be lurking in my daily pattern.
Deep Unknown resembles a sort of soft ambient cello sound that leaves you hanging in space, almost floating on a cloud. The notes keep you elevated while the warmth of its beautiful texture penetrates right down to your toes. I still can't understand how this was done with just guitar. Maybe a bowed guitar? Truly impressive.
The Valley Beyond starts with a soft unobtrusive rain that is mixed extremely well with the rest of the music and can only be described as mesmerizing. Beautiful harmonic overtones sway back and forth and the light melody makes me think of a hawk flying the slipstream through peaks and valleys of a mountain.
Valley Beyond connects to Fallen Angel where a new angelic guitar melody emanates throughout. The melody is by itself and highlights this artist's angelic style of playing with elongated notes, again, layering over one another. SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL.
I immediately started to incorporate this cd with the few new massage clients I have. The outcome? Total success. The 60 minute cd coincides perfectly with the work I give as a therapist. My clients love it, commended me on it, and I still listen to it daily. As a picky music listener, I feel blessed to have this cd. It found its way into my life.

"I have other "relaxing" CDs that really don't do the job. This one does. I actually bought it to listen to while I had some dental work done and it was very helpful!"
