"I kept hearing how this CD was the best country and bluegrass record since the 40's. I kept hearing about what a "special" album this was and how it was such an "event". Well, let me tell you something. It's ALL true. This is the very best of and the roots of and the history of what is now modern country music. "The Old Account" is no less than Classic. Actually, the whole album is Classic. It's a must-have for ANYBODY into Americana, Country and or Bluegrass music."
A Gem of a CD

"I don't know where I've been, I only recently discovered Del McCoury when he was on Prairie Home Companion. I ordered this CD and I was a little put off by it at first, because of the lack of polish. But "Speak to Me My Darlin'" really grabbed me; a simple tune with sparse instrumention sung soulfully by Del. Then the more I listened to the CD the more I fell in love with the whole thing. It has such a purity and a charm to it, it's a good thing I live alone because I've been playing it constantly. "Live and Let Live," "Talk of the Town," "Black Mountain Rag," and "More Pretty Girls Than One" especially are standouts, but the whole thing is great. I have two more Del McCoury CD's on order though which I'm looking forward to very much, after having had a chance to see him and his band in concert recently."

"I have not enjoyed a new bluegrass CD as much as this one in a long time. Listening to Del on "Speak to Me Lil Darlin" makes you feel you are in the presence of greatness. Listening to Doc and Ronnie play together is really a treat. You won't regret adding this to your collection."
A pleasure each time I listen

"I find this album a joy, and it remains fresh and interesting each time I listen. The harmonies and instrumentals showcases the great collaboration between the artists. I have been listening to country for about a year now. This CD convinced me that my musical home is in bluegrass. My other bluegrass favorites are "The Mountain" (McCroury, Earle), and "BlueGrass Rules" (Skaggs). If you like them, I think you will like this one as well."
