"This is the album I chose to listened to in 1996 as I was putting on my tuxedo awaiting my wedding. I found this to be ironic since Jusin Currie's lyrics perfectly capture heartbreak and loneliness. I think this is the best albums from one of the best bands you will ever hear. They are CRIMINALLY underrated and what a travesty that they were not appreciated by the masses and could not continue. At least we can feel special for appreciating their immense talent. This disc will possess a special place in your record collection from the first time it is played. It's that good."

An incredibly emotional album

"An excellent album from start to finish for anyone who has loved, lost and loved again. The lyrics are both emotionally written and sung by Del Amitri front man Justin Currie. The lyrics can get depressing at times, but the music is varied and accessible, with the strongest songs (musically) being Just Like a Man, Always the Last to Know (a minor hit in the US), To Last a Lifetime, and Behind the Fool. But overall, you can't go wrong with listening to the disc from start to finish - that's what I do - as it's one of the most solid albums I've ever had the pleasure of listening to...and I've heard plenty. Justin's voice is so sincere that you can tell just how he was feeling when he wrote the songs.



The music itself is somewhat folk-styled with a heavy pop influence, but I'd still consider it to be on the whole a rock album. I've heard comparisons with Counting Crows, which I guess is mainly based on the music and not the vocals. Suffice it to say that Del Amitri came way before they did.



Such a shame this never received the record label support that it should have from A&M. Do yourself a favor and give this album a chance. My guess is you will not regret it."
