CD ReviewsBrilliant, Just Brilliant! Roni H. Angel | Frederick, MD USA | 08/01/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "Taj Weekes is a phenomenal artist, as is this work of music. If you love the classic feel of Roots Reggae then you will absolutely fall in love with this album. The CD has not left my player since purchased almost two months ago. His voice is very unique and for some, it may take getting a custom too. His band (Adowa) displays their talent for finding that natural reggae groove. In all honesty, this has become one of my favorite reggae albums. I own over 300 reggae albums and this one has skyrocketed to the top of my list. My hats off to Taj Weekes and I'm now trying to find a live performance to watch. This album is highly recommended to all fans of music. Enjoy " The Return of Great Roots Reggae! J. Couture | 08/15/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "You've just got to check this guy out, his band is great, his music is concious, and this album is probably the best roots reggae disc made in 20 years (I own alot of reggae). I just saw them live and they blew me away. A must have for any reggae fan." Taj Weekes' roots keep his music grounded and refreshingly d Leslie A. Lake | Saint Lucia | 12/21/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is a wonderful album. Taj Weekes is demonstrably proud of his homeland Saint Lucia, a 238 square mile tropical pradise in the Eastern Caribbean. He speaks passionately about the fresh, natural surroundings he grew up in, and the experiencs and influences (e.g. exposure to all forms of music on the radio - from classical, calypso, country & western to roots reggae and west african soukous)that shaped his development into an articulate, passionate spokesman for tolerance, respect, spirituality and caring for one another. His music and lyrics bring out an intense yearning for peace and justice in the world. Grounded in reggae rhythms that deliberately eschew the more sensual (and popular) contemporary dancehall, and borrow respectfully from the earthy "heartbeat" and "word, sound, and power" mystique that permeates the ground breaking musical niche created by icons such as Bob Marley, Toots and the Maytals, Peter Tosh and Culture; Taj Weekes' music conjures up surreal, yet striking images of a troubled world that can be saved. He still retains his distinctively equable St Lucian accent, and his obviously strong connection with his birthplace to a large extent, very refreshingly differentiates his music from that of wannabe Bob Marley copycats."
