Money well spent
10/28/1999
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I had to buy this one(and the video tape) through a cousin living in the United States. Until I had it in my hands a week ago, I was doubtful if the money was going to be well spent. The first few times I played it, I was judgemental and harsh - particularly about Gillan's singing and Morse's somewhat extravagant, plug-all-holes style - but it's grown on me. Though it is a million miles short of the raw energy and sheer brilliance of Made in Japan, it has its moments of glory. And they are Speed King, Fireball, Perfect Strangers, Ted the Mechanic and Bloodsucker... NOT Highway Star or Smoke on the Water, those two are disappointing. I'd say buy it. There may not be another live album from Deep Purple."
