"This (along with Cannibal Ox's "The Cold Vein") is one of the best and most influential underground hip-hop albums ever. It's really hard to find, but if you see this selling for 20-25 dollars, buy it. It will change your life and the way you look at hip-hop. The songs on here are so well put together. The beats suit the music well, nothing really stands out, but it's not supposed to, it just sets the mood. Every single song on here is worth listening too. This is one skip-free album. The mc's are slug(atmosphere), dose-one(themselves), Sole, and Alias(now turned producer and part time lyricist). All of these guys bring something to the table that the others could not. The hardest part of this album(besides the concepts) is getting used to dose-one's voice. It took me almost a year to finnaly get into his high pitched, raspy voice. Don't let that discourage you however, one unique voice out of four only adds to the enjoyment. If your into hip-hop that makes you think and not about "gun's b*tches and weed" get this. You will not regret this purchase. Trust me."

"I'd like to start off by stating that I am not only a Minneapolis resident, but a fan of "left of center" hip hop, so I am very partial to this type of work. There are so obvious warts displayed in the audio quality of the recording and maybe the lack of variation as far as the production is concerned, but that's really not the point of this work. If you're looking for something to bang while rolling down your street you really need to look elsewhere. Here the focus is the dynamic wordplay and overall interaction of four tremendously strong MCs sounding young and raw and throwing conventions out with the garbage. I'm a huge Atmosphere fan and I feel that this represents some of Slug's best work lyrically. Sole is great with his slippery, nimble flow and Alias despite what I've read in interviews comes across confident and intact. Dose is the MC who might require the most "getting used to" with his nasally, irregular flow but I think he adds a nice color to the songs that makes them stand out more. If you're down with type of stuff you should definitely give this one a shot"

"i dont have much to say other than this cd is a classic 5 star album not 3,don't let the last review fool you this $hit pounds has more bass than most albums do,sure the sound could be more crisp & clean like kanyegay west and 49 cent's new albums. this is raw underground true hip-hop here folks. Slug & Dose One are exact opposites thats what makes this album very unique & original,Did i mention this cd was originally put out in
1999 yet it sounds like it could of been 2008.
So if you like mainstream crap then don't purchase ,if you like real hip-hop and are fans of...Copywrite,Eydea,Sage Francis, slug, atmosphere, aesop rock, brother ali,el-p,cage,ill bill, goretex, jedi mind tricks, dynospectrum, sole, dose one, alias, passage, deadbeats wich is the best hip hop duo you will never hear, deadbeats are by far the best and there from my town of sick lake city.
So all you real hip hop kats buy this album now right here on www.amazon.com Thanks for letting me waste a few minutes of your life & mine PEACE TO ALL!!!"
Fully Understanding This Album Is Like Reading A Book, You G

"...I never thought there could ever be such thing as overly potent hip hop, but damnit, here it is. There is so much content & substance here it's almost guranteed that it will be too much for you the first listen, but your mind will keep telling yourself, this is f**kin dope!! All four emcees, or... the emcee & 3 poets(Slug & Doseone, Alias, & Sole) tag team non-stop throughout most of the album, trading from about 2-4 bars back and forth but most of the songs go over 5 minutes, so it's safe to say they all get about a good 16-20 bars a piece per song.
This is what it sounds like when bright artists don't dumb down even 0.5% of the time, which is something some will adore & others will complain over. Not to mention I get the idea that the four of them were either shrooming, candy flippin, stoned out of their mind or all of the above when this project was recorded, and it is definately deep. I'll say this, if you have a genuine understanding and appreciation for the art of lyricism, Deep Puddle Dynamics can serve as a bible for trials and tribulations. (which is a great analogy for those who would complain, cause some people don't like reading the bible)
As far as beats & production, they have: ANT, Jel, Moodswing, DJ Abilities, and Alias himself.
AND! One last thing: Amazon.Com says there is a 13th track titled "Rainmen" which is not true, there are only 12 tracks on this album. But I have heard "Rainmen" and it would've been nice if it made the cut, but if you're lucky you'll probably only find it on Limewire.
To all true hip hop heads, you owe it to yourself to experience The Taste Of Rain...Why Kneel? So buy this now. Right Now.
