"I first heard this around '96, and was quite impressed. I like this one best out of all the other DIJ stuff I have heard. it's pretty scary, dark, what have you. it's the 'punkest' sounding one...if you like OG Goth stuff ( JD, Jesus and Mary Chain, Bauhaus, etc.) this will be a great addition to your collection, and is a great intro to the whole subgenre created by bands like DIJ, Current 93, Sol Invictus, Lustmord, etc. one of the most facinating aspects is the use of
Nazi imagery in the liner design and lyrics. it adds to the creepiness, for sure. it really conjures up images of the German army during WW2, but in a very surreal and creepy way. I'm not sure what their actual take is on the whole thing (Nazisim, the Holocaust, etc.)but the dude I got it from is Jewish, and it doesnt seem to bother him at all, and he loves them. so I gauge my opinion off that. bottom line is, the music is fantastic."
