BOSTON HARDCORE

"Another great band from Boston MA. As a billion of hardcore bands has recently sprung to the scene, Death Before Dishonor is definitely an exception in the game. Especially, with "Friends Family Forever," they have raised the bar very high. This album was a huge step for the band to establish their unique sound, especially compared to their previous "True Till Death," which sounds more metallic to me. "Friends Family Forever" is the finished product bridging good parts of metal, hardcore, and even street punk. The sound becomes more heavier and more faster, while featuring great sing-alongs and breakdowns, reminiscent of Blood For Blood's "Living in the Exile."
The production is dramatically improved in this album, thicking furious edges on the riffs. Another thing to notice is that the song structure is very unexpected, having a tons of riffs changes throughout the album, which is a great thing to make big differences from other bands. Also, I like a snare drum during the breakdown, it perfectly matches with the back-up instrumentation. The singer from Death Threat (CT) makes an effective vocal presence, particularly at the song "Friends Family Forever."
Finally, I strongly recommend to have the re-issue version of this record, since it contains three bonus tracks ("Curl Up And Die," "Game's Over," and "Dead To Me") as well as awesome live recordings at CBGB. Although the recent album "Count Me In" is outstanding, I believe "Friends Family Forever" to be a true representation of the band. Highly recommended for fans of Blood For Blood, Madball, and Dropkick Murphys."
