CD ReviewsCan We Talk 1995 and Intimacy 1997 R. Simmons | New York | 08/15/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "I've been hearing tunes from these CD's but didn't know who the artist was. The radio stations weren't giving credit to the artist. In time I found out and bought both CD's. They are both so good. The way that Dean James plays the horn is like LUTHER singing. Every note is nurtured and nourished. Dean James and everyone of his side-people playing with him put so much into the songs making every selection special. I haven't enjoyed a CD as much as these in a long time. I just read an interview, done June 2004, with Dean James on the JAZZ NATION website stating that Dean James has another project coming soon, he's calling it LOVE CHRONICLES. I'm looking forward to it." A HIDDEN TREASURE ........... Fantasyman | Birmingham, West Midlands (England) | 03/27/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "CAN WE TALK IS A SUPERB ALBUM FROM A TRUE MUSICAL GENIUS. HIS STYLE IS A KIND OF CROSS BETWEEN BONEY JAMES AND KIRK WHALUM. DUE TO THE RECORD LABEL CLOSING DOWN, THIS C/D CAN ONLY BE PURCHASED USED. HOWEVER, YOU CAN PICK THIS C/D UP AT A BARGAIN PRICE ON THIS SITE, SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR ?????" Can We Talk - Intimacy augey | Chicago IL USA | 03/06/2004 (4 out of 5 stars) "I happened to pop in "Can We Talk" for the first time in about 2 years and it was sounded much better than I first remembered. As the previous reviewer also noted Dean James reminds me of George Howard on this cd. (I've been on a George Howard kick lately) I had picked up "Can We Talk" after having purchased Dean James' cd "Intimacy", which is only available in used cd stores. "Intimacy" is even better and rates a 5. I play "Intimacy" over and over. It's that good. Since Dean James is rather unknown both of these cds can be purchased used inexpensively, and are worth checking out."
