A beautiful little musical, in fact a great collection of songs, about the Spanish Civil War. Very few instruments and just competent voices convey in a very moving way the spirit of those tragic and heroic years in which the best of Spain fought and lost (for a time at least) the battle against Fascism. The music, inspired by the simple war songs sung at the time by the people defending the Republic, is tuneful and heartfelt. In a time of cheesy and trivial musical shows this is a reminder that not everything is lost. In days of hope we can still shout Viva la revolución."
