CD ReviewsSpillane gets the groove on rsbeavers@ucdavis.edu | Davis, California | 11/28/1998 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is a great album! Spillane mixes some traditional Celtic tunes with new jazzy, new age sounds. He does a lot of remixing, with him playing the low whistle and uileean pipes at the same time. This is kind of quirky, but sounds great. Lots of songs have a free-flowing, magically haunting Celtic hint that only Davy could create. A CD definitely worth buying if you like Celtic/New Age/Good Music." Spillane at his best George Low | Scotland | 05/03/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "This album would probably be classed as 'Fusion' but I think it is wrong to pidgeon-hole music so I will just say 'A place Among the Stones' brings traditional Irish music into the 21st Century. It ranges from the haunting Irish ballad Starry Night played beautifully on the pipes by Davy and sung brilliantly by Sean Tyrrell, to a modern song sung by Steve Winwood with his distinctive vocals accompanied by Davy on pipes and low whistles. Once you've heard this album you'll be hooked!" Place Among The Stones Robert Vey-cox | Australia | 11/27/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "Excellent blend of modern music and traditional Irish music. Uillean Pipes are hauntingly beautiful and Spillane is an master at his trade."
