What I've been waiting for

"This is a fantastic disc. I had gotten to the point of discarding these concertos from my play-list altogether due to dissatisfaction with the available recordings. In fact, I've been through a lot of recorded versions of these concertos. The last series I bought was Pinnock and the English concert. I just kept asking myself what is the point of the large booming Orchestra? Is that really the way to enjoy this music - straining to hear the harpsichord over the cacophony? Is that really the way it was played in Bach's time? I'm a total ignoramus when it comes to the technical side of music. I just listen. But somehow I always thought there should be a smaller-sounding recording - that that is probably how this music was originally played and sounded best. Anyway, this is a nice recording with wonderful musicians playing wonderful instruments. If you really love Bach, this is an absolute must-have CD. There's just nothing like it on the market.
Having said all this, I should warn that, because they are live, these are not very polished performances. There are some sloppy moments. I imagine that the expense of doing a real studio recording would be prohibitive for Plectra. Anyway, we have the benefit of spontaneity to make up for the roughness of this project."

"This is my 1st. review ever on any product i can't have any distractions when listening to this set. It gives me great joy to listen to this music . I bought this set a few weeks ago and am lost for words to articulate my thoughts . I am a regular joe i play guitar 35 years now most all jim hendrix music however 95% of my time is spent on baroque music to listen to .This set was done with great care and the sound is full and never dull very happy hope to see more reviews on this awesome set!"
