Product DescriptionHard-working Carolina bard Davis Coen's new album effort Jukebox Classic is supplemental to his last year's release Magnolia Land, including tracks from the remaining sessions produced at Delta Recording Service in Como, Mississippi. Again the music contains direction and accompaniment from the well-versed Jimbo Mathus (of Squirrel Nut Zippers fame) and musician/engineer Justin Showah, with drums from Hill Country classic Kent Kimbrough, son and musical prodigy of the late-great Junior. Jukebox Classic is intent on the jukebox-friendly-length song; often found well-packaged and to the point - then sometimes faded out. The album consists almost equally of Coen original, soulful and country-peppered compositions, such as Long Lost Friend and Don't Ever Be Sorry, alongside time-tested under-the-radar cover song classics such as Earl King's uplifting New Orleans funk-groove (Let's Make A) Better World and Delta Blues/Rock & Roll Forefather Arthur Crudup's haunting After Hours.
