You'll laugh, cry, sing, dance ... and come back for more

"I was fortunate enough to meet David Olney and see him perform live this summer at an outdoor festival in front of a relatively small but appreciative crowd, where I could sit back under the stars and let this masterful story-teller take me away to other worlds with his acoustic guitar and meticulously crafted story-songs. Therefore, I was pleasantly surprised when I listened to his latest CD, "True Lies", and realized that this versatile performer with the dry wit can bring on the band and rock the house, as well. If you associate David Olney only with his outstanding ballads, you certainly won't be disappointed with such jewels as "Barrymore Remembers", "Robert Ford and Jesse James", "Sunset on Sunset Boulevard", the brilliantly clever "Death, True Love, Lonesome Blues and Me" and the mournful "I'll Fall in Love Again" and "It Won't Be Me No More", but you also need to experience his up-tempo efforts like the blues-rocker "Camille", the funky "Basketball", and the folky-rocker "Leaf in the Wind" to appreciate the depth of this veteran entertainer. This is truly a recording that has the variety and musical balance to make you laugh, cry, dance, sing ... and come back again and again."
