Member CD ReviewsPaul W. (escapedtowisconsin) from SOLON SPRINGS, WI Reviewed on 8/7/2013... Great to listen to classic Contemporary Christian Music again from the 1980's. So many of these artists are forgotten since they are published on LPs and now only recently on CDs. Worth listening to again.
CD ReviewsHardly Definitive, but Wonderful Mark Baker | Santa Clarita, CA United States | 04/27/2007 (4 out of 5 stars) "When making a list of artists I wish were still recording, David Meece would be near the top. And, even though I knew this was a best of release, I had to get it. The disc consists of 10 songs from David's years as a recording artist for Word Records. And there in lies my only real complaints with the disc. It's hard to consider something "definitive" when there are only 10 tracks and 7 of them come from two releases. Additionally, if you are hoping for stuff that hasn't been made available on CD before, you will be disappointed. Then again, since his stuff was hard to find on CD, there might be songs here that you don't have. What is here is wonderful. Since it focuses on "Count the Cost" and "Are You Ready?" you get plenty of 80's pop programming. But the songs are still great. "Follow You" is one of my favorite from his early years. "Making My Life Brand New" surprised me the first few times I listened to it. But it really grew on me as well. "Never Gonna Serve Anyone Else but You" is a fun song that allows David to show off his low voice and his falsetto. This is the live version from the "Front Row" disc. And of course there are true hits on here. "Everybody Needs a Little Help" was a cross over hit in the late 70's. And I would seriously throw a fit if they left out "We are the Reason." I mean, that's the song he's best known for. Yes, I am giving it four stars based solely on the name. The songs themselves are great. They just suffer from false advertising." Not Definitive but Still Worth Listen rodboomboom | Dearborn, Michigan United States | 05/17/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "Mark's review says it well: not definitive of his recordings; wish he was recording more, etc.
Having seen David in person about five times, each was superb and have all of his recordings. In all of CCM his talent and testimony and theology are superb. God doesn't have a bad muffler, so we thank him for such as David filling the void. " |
