"Yes, I know that the Keith Jarrett Trio gets all the ink, plays all over the world and sells many albums. And well they should. But this group, as I mentioned in my title, is THE QUINTESSENTIAL Jazz trio. The definition of quintessential is "the essence of a thing in its purest and most concentrated form." That captures the interaction between pianist Randy Porter, bassist David Friesen and percussionist Alan Jones perfectly. I have listened to this album many times, I have seen this group live, and they display a sublime, organic creative spark and flow as they tackle timeless and original tunes with a new, of the moment approach every time. Buy this album and buy one for a friend. And listen with all your heart and mind."
