"I have a very different opinion from the gentleman who gave this a one-star rating. As much as I enjoyed the Swing Sessions by David Campbell, I was just as satisfied with this album of 60s covers. I was a teenager in that era, so maybe I'm inclined to like those songs a lot, and I am very pleased with most of the renditions of the songs on this album. My favorite is the duet of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" that David does with his dad, Jimmy Barnes. I understand a DVD of a live concert featuring songs from the Swing Sessions and Good Lovin' will be released in Australia this weekend. I can't wait!"
Quality fun cd from Campbell

"I also do not get the one star review here. I have also been a fan of David Campbell since the beginning of his career. There have been many incarnations of this talented guy as his music experience developed over the years. He started out in 1997 with his first release YESTERDAY IS NOW. He was 23 then and came across as a seasoned cabaret style singer. His releases were impeccable with standards, story songs and uptempo numbers all carried by his pure vocals and raw talent which his a rare emotive quality. Then we go basically a decade ahead past his exploration with the stage and musicals and get his two releases of the SWING SESSIONS. Both of these are awesome and then David comes out with GOOD LOVIN. This is not as much a stretch as one would think. It is still his reinterpretation of classic songs but we jump to songs basically from the 60s.
I found this cd a delight. David has such fun here and the listener is still promised the gift of the true musical talent of David Campbell. He makes everything his own and this set opens on a high note with 1-2-3 with broad, strong vocals that show the magic that is to come. I love all the tracks here but there are some definite highlights. David still has major magic on the ballady songs where his vocals can soar and that works superbly on HOW CAN I BE SURE and YOU'VE MADE ME SO VERY HAPPY. He takes a definite bluesy approach that makes magic on TELL IT LIKE IT IS and SUSPICIOUS MINDS. The duet with his father on YOU'VE LOST THAT LOVIN FEELIN is great and they match each other note for note as the song reaches a great climax.
For David Campbell fans or fans of this music here is a highly recommended cd. David Campbell is a true purist of music and with the excellent song selection and his powerful vocals the listener gets a great listening experience. And if you are not aware of David Campell yet he is definitely worth investing in. All his releases are superb."
