"THE CD IS NOT AS GOOD AS EARLIER ALBUMS LIKE 'APPRENCTICE IN A MUSICAL WORKSHOP' OR 'COUNTRY SUITE', BOTH OF WHICH ARE FABULOUS ALBUMS. TOO BAD WE CAN'T GET THESE TWO WORKS ON CD. IF YOU LIKE DAVE LOGGINS YOU'LL FIND A GREAT DEAL TO LIKE IN THIS CD. SEVERAL OF THE CUTS RISE TO THE LEVEL OF EARLIER WORKS ('PCS OF APRIL', 'SISTER MARY RYAN' AS EXAMPLES). ANYONE WHO LIKES 'PLEASE COME TO BOSTON' SHOULD LIKE THIS MATERIAL. THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCTION LEAVES SOMETHING TO BE DESIRED, OBVIOUSLY IT WAS DONE ON THE CHEAP. HOPE THIS HELPS.......HOPE WE GET SOME MORE OF DAVID IN THE FUTURE."
FINE FIRST ALBUM!

"Dave Loggins is a singer-songwriter with a voice like his beloved
Tennessee's velvet smoky whisky. He released four
albums.Notwithstanding a remark made in an earlier review,
'PersonalBelongings' was his first (Vanguard, 1972). His final three
albums were released on Epic Records (CBS, Inc). Especially worthy
is'Apprentice (In A Musical Workshop)' (1974), which includes the
sublime 'Please Come to Boston'.Why Epic/CBS haven't released these
works on CD is a major mystery to me. So too, I might add, is why
Loggins quit recording, or at least (so far as I know) publishing, in
the late 1970s. I met him once after a concert here in Denver. It was
clear that he was not just a great performer, but also a gracious
gentleman. Though not his best - that surely would be 'Apprentice'-
this is a fine first album by a great talent. He later gave us one of
the classic songs of our time and some very sweet albums. They're
all, including this one, filled with beauty, deep feeling, and rare
pleasures. It's a sad loss that for so long so little has been heard
from Dave Loggins's musical workshop.

"The CD has great old fashioned cuts. Claudia and Pieces of April have wonderful word pictures to take you into another realm. There is diversity in tempo and yet a continuity and attention to qualtiy of music and lyric."
