CD ReviewsCruisn' With Grusin.... L. Shirley | fountain valley, ca United States | 04/27/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "Grusin Fans, If you have not yet heard or purchased this mellow, yet up-lifting album, you are in for a real treat! 17 tracks, lasting over an hour of definitive Dave Grusin, is here to be savoured in an all orchestral album. It's filled with his own movie scores, some updated 'Cowboy Songs', and a marvelous bow to the Gershwins.Whether around the house, or in the car, you will coast along with Grusin's recognizable style. The music is a great mix of jazzy and light renditions, and an added spanish flavor as well. Included are a variety of Orchestra sounds, from his best loved movie scores. "Cuba Libre"("Se Fue")and The "Santa Clara Suite"(Havana), the wonderfully whimsical "Milagro Beanfield War" suite(be careful, you may want to get up and do a Flamenco!)from the "Migration" Album,"The Heart is A Lonely Hunter", and a moving rendition of "Condor", (from "Three Days of the Condor). You'll also be delighted with an orchestral arrangement and update Three Cowboy Songs;"Git Along Little Dogies", "The Colorado Trail" and "Cripple Creek Breakdown". He pays homage to the great talents of the Gershwins with a fantastic medley of "Bess You IS My Woman/I Loves You Porgy" "Summer Sketches" originally recorded in Tokyo in 1982, is a 12:32 minute track that will take your breathe away with the beautiful combination of brass and strings. The orchestrations, both arrangements and musical performances are exquisite.Beside the genius of Dave himself, you are also treated to some fabulous talent, including, Don Gruisn and Lee Rittenour. You will get lost in this wonderful album, and may want to replay it immediately! The CD is an excellent quality(GRP), each instrument and sound brings a delicious pleasure to the ear. I love it!..You will too! Enjoy...Laurie " One of the Best Grusin cd's you can buy Rosemarie White | Atlanta, Georgia United States | 12/17/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "If you enjoyed the Mountain Dance lp/cd you'll love this one. Had to search the title specifically, however, because this cd did not appear when I searched for Dave Grusin. It's everything you love about Dave Grusin. It's hard to be specific about each track, because each one has so much to offer. It's relaxing, romantic, and refreshing, just like all of Grusin's music."
