Great Rockabilly Guitar

"This release of Dave Edmunds, pre Rockpile, material showcases the Welsh guitar player's technique, especially on his version of "Sabre Dance", a longtime live concert favorite. Dave's voice is stellar throughout the release, which covers the earlier part of his career, including covers of the Huey Smith tune "I Hear You Knocking" with it's strongly compressed vocals. The selection includes a few Chuck Berry nuggets, including "You Can't Catch Me", "Sweet Little Rock and Roller" and "Promised Land", which do not disappoint. I was especially pleased by the cover of "Wang Dang Doodle" the Koko Taylor hit. This is a compilation worth adding to your Dave Edmunds collection if you are lacking the earlier releases."
