CD ReviewsYou Can Never Go Wrong With DBQ With Desmond....NEVER J. Rich | 12/21/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) ""Jazz Impressions Of Eurasia" is yet another killer album from the DBQ. These guys really know how to light it up with their own unique brand of bebop. I don't think I've ever heard a saxophonist as fluid with a killer tone as Paul Desmond, well Stan Getz, Coleman Hawkins, and Ben Webster are pretty fluid themselves, but as far as alto saxophone goes, nobody touched Desmond for his sheer inventiveness, control over his notes, his phrasing, and again...the tone! On "Jazz Iimpressions Of Eurasia" the DBQ burn through some Brubeck originals and they never disappoint. Be sure to also check out all of Brubeck's albums with Desmond, none of them are bad. Dave Brubeck - piano Paul Desmond - alto saxophone Joe Benjamin - bass Joe Morello - drums" Great Jazz R. Schmitt | High Desert, CA | 04/28/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "I was 13 when Jazz Impressions of Eurasia was released. I'd literally saved my pennies to buy my first album. My brother selected this great album for me -- or, more probably, for himself using my money. I'm now 61 and have not stopped listening to this wonderful music. The CD is faithful to the original. In some ways it's better. You'll find an error Brubeck makes -- edited out in the LP -- nicely restored on the CD. Simply the best." The Hobo Philosopher Richard E. Noble | Florida Panhandle | 03/21/2010 (5 out of 5 stars) "I have been an avid Brubeck fan and Brubeck collector since the 50s. I have 30 to 40 LPs and 10 to 15 CD. I've seen the old group in person several times. Jazz Impressions of Eurasia is a classic. If you are a Brubeck fan and you don't have this one ... get it. I have been listening to my LP recording now for almost 50 years and I never tire of it. I also play Jazz drums and Morello has a solo on this album that is wild. I am tempted to say that it could be his best ever but Morello has so much great stuff, I'm sure Morello fans everywhere would be writing to me. You can't go wrong with this selection. I guarantee you will like it. No question. If you don't like it ... you don't like the Dave Brubeck quartet. That's it!"
