CD ReviewsBeautiful Lisa Mack | New Westminster, British Columbia Canada | 04/16/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is worth getting just so that you have a copy of the song "Where You Want to Be". It's an amazing melody that anyone can relate to. His words are piercing and really hit you hard so be prepared to be moved." Five Stars For "Where You Want To Be" Jason W. Bellenger | Byron Center, Michigan, USA | 07/15/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) ""Where You Want To Be [Original Demo Recording]" is a b-side that should have been placed on a Darren Hayes album but was limited to a now out of print single instead. It is my favorite Darren Hayes recording, and for good reason. The beautiful production of keyboards, piano, and acoustic guitar make this 6-minute demo recording sound more like a finished studio product.
The A-side, "I Miss You", is a solid single release, with the "Dallas Austin Mix" giving it a little extra boost. The Madonna "Holiday" remix of "Crush On You" is a welcomed addition even though it sounds a bit too amateur with the vocals drowned in the mix. This single release is an example in which a b-side shines above all the rest. If anything, "Where You Want To Be" should have been placed on the 'Spin' [2002] album and released as an A-side on it's own. It really is that brilliant. Try hunting down a copy of this single and you won't regret adding one of Darren's best recordings to your collection. I'm not even that big of a fan, but I find this "demo" to be his best song. Hopefully, one day the track will be featured with more exposure on a future album release." |
